Setup Larix Broadcaster for iOS

To begin, please ensure you have met the Pre-Requisites and follow the steps on the Getting Started - Instructors article.

Part 1 - Install an RTMP App

  1. You will need to download an RTMP (Real-Time Messaging Protocol) app.
    We recommend Larix Broadcaster: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/larix-broadcaster/id1042474385

Part 2 - Setup the RTMP App

The first time you use the Larix Broadcaster app, you will need to add some settings. This is just for the first time. After that, all you need to do is open the app and start streaming.

  1. Open Larix Broadcaster and then tap the Settings icon.
  2. Tap Connections
  3. Tap the + icon to add a connection.
  4. Enter the following settings:
    1. Name: My Fit Pro
    2. URL: The RTMP URL provided by your Class Owner (or available here).
    3. Mode: Audio + Video
    4. Tap Save.
  5. After pressing Save you will be returned to the Connections screen.

Make sure that the newly created Connection to My Fit Pro is selected. This will be indicated by the checkmark on the right. If there is no checkmark, just tap it once to select.
  6. Tap Settings in the upper left to return to the main settings screen.
  7. Tap Video.
  8. Choose which Camera you want to use by default.
Generally, the back side camera is better quality than the front (selfie) camera, but if you are recording from home with nothing to look at you may prefer the front camera. Either option is fine.
  9. Tap on Resolution.
  10. Select 1280x720
Review this article for how to select a proper Resolution & Bitrate option based upon your specific setup, environment and device.
  11. Tap on Bitrate
  12. Select 2,000 Kbps
If you have a slow upload speed, or your video is not playing smoothly, you may need to try a lower bitrate of 1,000 Kbps.

This will also reduce the internet data used by your iPhone/iPad during the live stream.
Review this article for how to select a proper Resolution & Bitrate option based upon your specific setup, environment and device.
  13. Please leave the following settings on the defaults:
    1. Frame rate: 30 fps
    2. Keyframe frequency: 2 sec
    3. Format: H.264
  14. Scroll down to Adaptive Bitrate Streaming and tap on Mode.
  15. Select Hybrid.
This setting will allow your iPhone/iPad to automatically lower the stream quality to a lower bitrate if it detects that your upload speed has slowed down during your class.
  16. You can now return to the Larix Broadcaster app.
