Already Publishing Error

When attempting to start your stream, you may see an error that states:

{"level":"error","code":"NetStream.Publish.BadName","description":"Already publishing"}, retying in 3 seconds.

This generally means one of the following:

  • Another user is streaming to the same URL as you
    • Our system only allows for one streamer at a time to each server
    • The server will reject any other client that tries to publish to an existing live stream
  • The stream lost connection and was not closed properly
    • Phone / Larix unexpectedly quit
    • Internet connection was temporarily lost
    • The server did not get notified that the original streamer disconnected

To resolve this error, try the following options:

  • Ensure no other instructor is streaming class at that time
  • Close Larix / OBS, wait 10-15 seconds, re-start and try again
  • If the problem persists, contact our Support Team

As of October 25, 2020, we are currently testing a new setting that will shorten the timeout from disconnects. This has not yet been rolled out to all servers.
